On behalf of all the instructors and students, I thank you for visiting our website. We hope that after you click through our pages you will take the time to visit us in-person and experience first-hand our friendly, safe and welcoming environment.

Aikido is a martial art that is practiced by millions of people of all ages throughout the world. Many practice Aikido as a form of nonviolent self-defence, but many also train in Aikido for the mental and spiritual benefits that it provides.

At the West Coast Aikido Academy training is conducted in a safe, structured environment, free of egos. Regardless of age, fitness level or physical limitations we can help you learn this incredible martial arts and unique way of life.

As a nonviolent martial art and a spiritual discipline, Aikido will improve all areas of your life. You will reduce stress, improve your fitness, become more self-disciplined, have greater focus, awareness, confidence, elevated self-esteem and get more out of life!

Since 1993 West Coast Aikido Academy has trained thousands of local people from all walks of life, from the regular person off the street to emergency service workers, health professionals, armed forces, police and prison personnel. Why? Because Aikido is perfectly suited to controlling an opponent without causing serious injury. Put simply, if you are attacked, your Aikido training will enable you to defend yourself or your loved ones, without causing undue harm to the attacker.

At West Coast Aikido Academy, we are dedicated to helping you acquire practical self-defence skills whilst reducing stress, and getting into the best shape of your life!

Each day look for the positive in people and in your environment. Read material such as positive quotes each day. Read books, stories, listen to cd's and watch movies that inspire you and move you towards your goals. Turn the news off. Most mainstream news is negative and is designed to keep you in fear. Try not watching or listening to the news for a week, I guarantee you will not miss it. It is very easy to lose motivation, that is why you need to constatly surround yourself with positive people and inspirational information. Bath yourself in positivety for a week and see how you feel.

The Smith Family‘s Christmas Toy & Book Appeal

Again this year we are hosting the The Smith Family‘s Christmas Toy & Book Appeal. Donation Bins are provided at the Dojo. Thank you for helping us help those less fortunate.

Sadly, many children living in financial disadvantage will not receive a gift this Christmas.

The Smith Family’s Toy & Book appeal is your opportunity to help bring a smile to a disadvantaged child’s face this Christmas. Sadly, thousands of Australian kids will go without receiving a gift this holiday season simply because their families can’t afford it.

This year, with your help, The Smith Family aim to deliver over 60,000 new toys and 40,000 new books to children in need around Australia.

The Toy & Book appeal is part of their Christmas ‘Stocking Exchange’ which provides gifts to children in need, allowing them to feel a sense of belonging this Christmas. Your generous gifts will help them acquire the skills and knowledge they need to build a better future.

Thank you for your generosity. After all, it’s only Christmas when we share it.
