If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then Aikido martial arts training could be just what you are looking for! We have Aikido and Martial Arts Classes for adult men and women, teens and older youth
At West Coast Aikido, teenage students train with adults to prepare them for real-world situations and experience training with people of different sizes. This approach allows for less restrictive development as martial artists. Students learn self-defence techniques in a safe and structured manner as they progress through belt rankings towards a Black Belt. They are also taught to use their skills responsibly and only as a last resort. ‘With rank, comes responsibility!’
Martial arts training, specifically in Aikido, has been shown to greatly benefit teens transitioning to adulthood by increasing self-confidence and self-worth. Aikido teaches important values and strategies to help young people navigate social pressures and difficult situations.
Martial arts training is a safe and effective way for teenagers to learn important life skills like self-esteem, self-discipline, and self-confidence. It is recommended by psychologists, guidance counselors, and teachers for teens with Autism, A.D.D., A.D.H.D, and discipline issues.
West Coast Aikido offers disciplined, safe, and fun classes focused on cooperation and non-aggression for teens since 1993. Their experienced instructors help teens reach their full potential and aim to develop them into the next generation of black belts, working closely with parents to achieve this goal. Please note: All of our instructors hold a current ‘Working with Children’ check
Training in martial arts like Aikido can help adults not only improve their physical appearance and fitness levels, but also enhance mental well-being. By learning traditional exercises, individuals can lose weight, tone muscles, and improve bone density. Additionally, practicing martial arts can boost self-confidence and provide essential self-defence skills to protect oneself and loved ones in potentially dangerous situations.
An added benefit of training in Aikido is that it combines physical techniques with mental and spiritual aspects, leading to a calmer and more harmonious life.
Training at West Coast Aikido Martial Arts Academy is done in a safe and structured environment without competition or egos. You will receive personalized instruction from experienced teachers. Monthly events and advanced training are also available to help enhance your Aikido skills.
